Industrial Technology Research Institute
ITRI is a world-leading applied technology research institute with more than 6,000 outstanding employees. Its mission is to drive industrial development, create economic value, and enhance social well-being through technology R&D. Founded in 1973, it pioneered in IC development and started to nurture new tech ventures and deliver its R&D results to industries. ITRI has set up and incubated companies such as TSMC, UMC, Taiwan Mask Corp., Epistar Corp., Mirle Automation Corp., and Taiwan Biomaterial Co.
Information and Communications Research Laboratories
Since its establishment in 1990, the Information and Communications Research Laboratories of ITRI has been pivotal in driving Taiwan's ICT industry forward by developing advanced technologies. Over two decades, it transitioned from focusing on personal computers and network communications to pioneering smart devices and cloud computing. Recently, the Labs shifted towards software-centric, service-oriented research, delving into areas like 5G, cloud computing, IoT, FinTech, autonomous vehicles, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. This transformation underscores its commitment to innovation and addressing emerging technological challenges.
Division for Intelligent Network Applications and Systems
The Division for Intelligent Network Applications and Systems leads the charge in advancing telecommunications and network management technologies. Comprised of two vital departments, the NextGen Networks Management Department and the Joint Communication and Sensing Network Application Technology Department, the division drives innovation to meet the demands of Next Generation Networks.
The NextGen Networks Management Department focuses on optimizing telecommunications infrastructure through cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence and automation. Meanwhile, the Joint Communication and Sensing Network Application Technology Department pioneers solutions that integrate communication and sensing technologies, enabling transformative applications across various sectors.
