As the world transitions into the era of 5G technology, the complexities of managing and optimizing radio access networks (RANs) have become increasingly challenging. In response to this, the concept of RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) has emerged as a pivotal solution in the telecommunications industry. RIC represents a paradigm shift in network architecture, introducing intelligence and programmability at the RAN level to enhance network performance, efficiency, and flexibility. Athena RIC includes two frameworks: Non-RT-RIC and Near-RT-RIC and different kinds of rApps/xApps.
